| The ladies of
the WFRW delegation to the recent NFRW Convention had a
wonderful time, heard some terrific speakers, and attended
some outstanding workshops -- including one by our own
Sharon Krey. Also shown below are Fredi Simpson and
just two of the ladies (Sharon Helm and Anita Golladay) who
helped put together the "goodie bags" for Eileen Sobjack.

Congratulations to WFRW President Eileen Sobjack on
her election to the
NFRW Executive Committee for
2012-2013 |
|
At their recent biennial convention in Kansas City,
Missouri the convention delegates of the National
Federation of Republican Women elected their
officers for the 2012-2013 term.
The NFRW Board of Directors then elected three
additional women as Members-At-Large to join the
officers on the Executive Committee. These
eleven ladies of Executive Committee, comprised of
outstanding Republican leaders from across the
United States, will direct the activities of the
NFRW and its thousands of clubs and members.
The NFRW is one of
the largest and most influential women's political
organizations in the country. The NFRW works
to promote the principles, objectives and policies
of the Republican Party, elect Republican
candidates, inform the public through political
education and activity, and increase the
effectiveness of women in the cause of good
government.
A resident of Custer and former WSRP State Committeewoman from Whatcom County, WFRW
President Eileen Sobjack will take office as a
Member-At-Large to the NFRW Executive Committee on January

The NFRW Armed Services Committee requested each state federation to donate a quilt, commemorating military women awarded the Purple Heart, that will be displayed at the NFRW Convention in Kansas City.
The Lakewood Republican Women, with the help of Marlene Bostic's friends, Lorraine Arnold and Sharon Christiansen, put together and hand quilted our "gift of love". Sally Taylor and Marlene contributed the material depicting scenes of Washington for the border and some of the squares in the stars. Sheila Moberg, using her fancy embroidery machine, created a beautiful replica of the medal, the state of Washington and the state bird. |

The quilt was displayed at the LRW
December luncheon. The ladies who made the quilt were
honored at their March function. The quilt was displayed at
the recent WFRW Spring Board meeting and is expected to be
displayed at the NFRW Convention in Kansas City this fall. |
