March, 2008 Our year is off to a great beginning! It may seem that February was busy with the caucuses, the Presidential Primary, and many Lincoln Day Diners. But we are just getting started! Ahead of us we have more Lincoln Day Dinners, county GOP conventions, the WSRP convention, work on candidate campaigns and ... we have the Spring meeting of the WFRW Board of Directors set for April 18 and 19 at the Hawthorn Inn & Suites in Arlington. Click here to download the Official Call and the Club President's Proxy Form. In addition to great speakers (Jerry Stewart of Vision Radio Productions at dinner on Friday and Stu Elway of Elway Research at lunch on Saturday), there are many items of business important to WFRW that govern how we do business, set future goals and determine the complexion of our Federation over the next few years. Remember that we must have a quorum present in order to discuss and vote on these vital issues! If you are an elected officer of WFRW, appointed chairman of a standing committee, or elected Club President, you are a voting member of the WFRW Board of Directors. Club Presidents have the privilege of sending a proxy to represent and cast a ballot in their name -- so if you are a President and are unable to attend, be sure you send a proxy. All others vote in person, so it’s doubly important that they attend. (WFRW Historian, parliamentarian, corresponding secretary, advisory members, and chairs of special committees shall serve on the WFRW Board of Directors with all privileges except voting.) In addition to our workshops for District Directors and Presidents, we have a brand new training tool! This one is tailored for Club Treasurers and Secretaries and will be in the form of informal discussion groups. These important officers of your club will be able to network with those from clubs around the state sharing information and asking questions. Encourage them to attend! Many Clubs have mailed in their membership lists and their WFRW/NFRW dues and fees. If your Club is still working on it, please remember that you can submit this information as soon as you have ten paid-up members. That will maintain your club's status. The forms themselves are downloadable here on the WFRW website -- you should mail them to me at 950 B SW Davis, College Place, WA 99354. The more quickly the forms/checks are sent, the more quickly they can be processed so that all of our Clubs can participate in the Spring Board of Directors meeting. If you watched the caucus numbers on TV over the past several weeks, I’m sure you were as filled with wonder as I. How many more Democrats turned out to vote than Republicans! We have a huge job ahead of us if we are going to retain the White House and win back Congress. We must encourage our members to come together in harmony and support every Republican candidate! We must never forget our goals and why they are our goals. I remind you of that fateful day now commonly referred to as 9/11. If we are to keep our nation safe and, indeed, the world as we know it, we must elect Republicans to office at all levels! The stakes are too high to become complacent or to let division of philosophy cause us to turn our sights from the goal. Let’s meet and beat the D’s with enthusiasm and confidence as we “Get Out The Republican Vote,” move Dino into the governor’s mansion and elect a new Republican President! Thank you for your hard work – remember, we can do anything as long as we don’t care who gets the credit! See you at the Spring Board meeting in Arlington! With all best wishes,
