September 10, 2007 I just wanted to give you an update on the "An Evening With Karna Bodman" event that was held in Everett this past Friday evening. We had a wonderful turn out with over 50 people attending. It was great to see everyone out for an evening of fun and interesting conversation. We had a very tasty dinner of steak and salmon served buffet style. Everyone was able to enjoy the array of excellent salads and side dishes that went with the dinner. After dinner we were treated with a song by Renee Sinclair, God Bless America, which she invited all to join in singing. Then some real fun began when the Evergreen Republican Women hosted a Dessert Dash. The wonderful cakes, pies and other pastries were auctioned off by Bill Copper-candidate for Snohomish County Council District 2, Renee Sinclair-candidate for Snohomish County Council District 3, Larry Ismael-candidate for 1st Congressional District and Jack Turk-candidate for Snohomish County Executive. What a fun time was had by all when the bidding sent the price of the deserts into the $50.00 to $70.00 range! ! All in all, $417.00 dollars was raised. This was shared by the Evergreen Republican Women and WFRW. The Evergreen club plans to use the money to help elect Republican candidates in their area. After the dessert dash, Patty Cooper, President of Evergreen Republican Women, introduced our guest speaker, Karna Bodman. What a real treat! ! Karna was absolutely terrific. She spoke about her days in the White House when she was President Regan's deputy press secretary and then served on the National Security Council. She gave us some true insight to what happened the day President Regan was shot. Very Interesting! ! ! She also spoke about writing her book, "Checkmate". What made her decide to write and other insights into what it takes to write a novel and get it published. After she was finished Karna took some questions and answers. It was a great evening with everyone having a marvelous time. By the way, this was taped by TV Washington and will be broadcast on their channel Wednesday, September 12th, from 7 to 9 in the evening. I think that this is a wonderful way for the ladies in our state to know about WFRW and see that we are doing things and working to make our state a better place. We made almost $700 profit from this one evening. I think that is really great. I do want to thank everyone involved with putting this event together, especially Patty Cooper, Patti Winfrey(3rd VP) and Eileen Sobjack(1st VP). They worked really hard and it showed. With all best wishes,
